Education under Arafat
Some examples of Palestinian child abuse
THESE are some representative photos taken in Palestinian towns and villages after Yasser Arafat assumed control following the 1993 Oslo agreements – pictures that the mainstream media almost never published. Many of the weapons which feature in them were purchased with aid money donated to the Palestinian Authority by the European Union and other international donors. Palestinian children have continued to appear in such scenes since Arafat’s death in November 2004, down to the present day.

Children’s toys with explosives hidden inside were among the items discovered on Nov. 25, 2006 after the Israeli army raided a Palestinian weapons-making factory in Nablus in the West Bank. Such devices have been used by Palestinians to carry out bomb attacks killing Israeli civilians. |

Photographs such as the one above (taken by Reuters in Gaza in February 2004) were not used by the vast majority of the hundreds of newspapers that subscribe to Reuters worldwide, but go a long way to explaining why there were Palestinian civilian casualties, including those of children, during the Intifada. |
